Te whiwhinga mahi/The Opportunity
We are looking for someone that has a heart driven passion for lifting Māori Capability in the culture of the public service and can lead by example. We are also looking for this person to be highly organised and be able to play a key role in advising on how organisations can be better Treaty Partners with Tāngata Whenua by building capacity to have equitable relationships through engaging with, participating in, and becoming contributors to Te Ao Māori. Te āhuatunga a te tūranga/About the role
The Senior Advisor Māori Capability works alongside the Tumu-ā-Tikanga who is responsible for continuing to develop the cultural competency of Te Arawhiti, supporting the cultural capability programme (including implementation of the Whāinga Amorangi Plan) and the development of the Tikanga/Kawa system which supports Te Arawhiti's strategic direction - ‘Towards true Treaty Partnership”. Flexible working arrangements can be discussed.

**To be successful in this role you will**:

- be committed to the principles of te Tiriti o Waitangi
- bring an understanding of te ao Māori, te reo Māori me onā tikanga
- have an understanding and appreciation of cultural issues and concerns, in particular tikanga Maori
- bring a working knowledge of the principles of te Tiriti o Waitangi/Treaty of Waitangi and the implications of these for the work of Te Arawhiti
- have an understanding of the machinery of government

Utu ā-tau/Salary
The remuneration band for this role is $90,377 - to $127,591 - the appointing salary will be based on skills and experience
