The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) provides national leadership to New Zealand's distributed emergency management system. NEMA's primary focus is on the performance and capability of the emergency management system as a whole, across all hazards and all risks and the 4 Rs of risk reduction, readiness, response and recovery.
Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
This Senior Advisor role sits in the Social and Community Resilience team. Key deliverables of this role are to:
- Build strategic and operational welfare and community resilience leadership, across the emergency management system, with and for Māori
- Engage with a range of stakeholders and provide guidance to ensure roles and responsibilities are applied at national and regional levels.
- Work with a range of stakeholders to develop, maintain and evaluate social and community resilience planning arrangements.
Emergency Response / Urupare Ohotata
Assistance will be required in the response to and recovery from a national, regional or local emergency, as directed. This may involve working in the National Coordination Centre (NCC) / National Crisis Management Centre (NCMC) or another location, and may include potentially long hours and challenging working conditions, e.g. an emergency could occur at any time of the day or night and may require working shifts and /or working weekends. NEMA will do all in its power to support staff in meeting their work and family responsibilities during an emergency.
Ko wai koe | About you
- Proficient in tikanga Māori, kaupapa Māori, principles and approaches
- Te manawa Māori - A background in supporting Māori community engagement and partnership
- Te kairangi - excellence in leadership and influence, including relevant strategic and operational experience
- Te tūhono ki te iwi - An innate understanding of people, with well-developed networks and relationships within the community
- Experience in consulting and engaging Māori whanau, hapu, iwi and other Māori stakeholders
- A track record in connecting service delivery, community consultation, planning and networking to make positive connections
Ta matou e tuku | What we offer
The salary range for this role is $101,000 - $118,000 p/a including Kiwisaver contribution
