**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**
You’ll be joining the Urban Forest team, as part of the wider Urban Forest, Arboriculture and Ecology unit, and essentially be functioning as a public tree asset manager. You’ll promote and advocate for the importance and benefits of the urban forest and participate in the strategic planning inputs around arboriculture and green infrastructure provisions. Your role will also include:
- Acting as the tree owner and technical tree specialist in your allocated local boards
- Responding to inquiries from members of public and stakeholders relating to trees
- Recording of tree data in Auckland Council systems
- Tree planting location and species selection for new tree asset planting
**He kōrero mōu: About you**
Passionate about arboriculture, green infrastructure and the environment, you’ll be well versed in tree identification, biology, physiology and visual tree assessment.
Your field of study may have been natural resource management, forestry/urban forestry, green infrastructure, arboriculture, environmental science or similar, and your experience within a relevant field will also come with a high standard of oral and written communication. A basic understanding of te reo Māori or willingness to learn would also be advantageous.
You’ll be a natural at managing stakeholder relationships and have the ability to build and maintain relationships collaboratively.
