**About the role**

This is a first-of-a-kind role for Foodies and one that is critical in our efforts to become one of the most customer-driven retailers in the world by 2030. The purpose of this role is to enhance trust amongst our fellow Foodies, vendors/suppliers, and our customers. Trust that the data we are the custodians of is appropriately collected, stored, used, and deleted with the aim of driving better decisions and actions. Central to this effort will be your leadership maturing governance processes and culture.

As a Senior Data Governance Specialist, you will be a Senior member of a future-focused Data & Analytics team (DnA) responsible for solving business challenges through data and analytics and realising the potential for data and analytics as a strategic enabler across our business.

Some of your daily responsibilities will include:

- Establishing and maintaining an enterprise data governance roadmap.
- Developing a data governance framework, focusing on data quality and protection of sensitive information.
- Providing advice, guidelines and training aimed at ensuring products and services conform to best practice (e.g., privacy-by-design principles).
- Developing and maintaining the process of cataloguing enterprise data assets, including leading the onboarding of relevant technologies.
- Promoting consistent approaches to management of data.
- Facilitating the development and implementation of data governance (incl. privacy) policies and standards across FSNI (Foodstuffs North Island).
- Leading on data sharing initiatives and ensure best-practice protocols are in place.
- Developing and promoting an ethical framework to govern implementation and use of data and analytics (e.g., responsible use of Artificial Intelligence).
- Leading efforts in developing a data and analytics risk profile and collaborate with Audit and Risk Committee, where needed.
- Bringing to life a “hub and spoke” way of working between DnA and stakeholders in each business unit.

**About you**

You will ideally have around 10 years’ experience working in the data governance, in a technical and strategic “hands-on” capacity. Experience in retail, particularly FMCG/CPG, would be welcomed.

A “doer” who can work very effectively in a consultative and collaborative fashion to deliver on outcomes. Someone who takes data governance very seriously but also realises that it’s a team-sport and that sustainable progress maturity can be made working effectively with others.

You will have a collaborative working style yet be able to stand on your own two feet. You will be comfortable working in a team environment, delivering strategic outcomes as well as tactical outputs. Curious by nature and comfortable in the limelight, you will be keen to learn and plan to grow and enhance our data governance capabilities, practice, and team.

The following may help, too:

- Holding privacy-related certifications such as IAPPCIPM, CIPT and CIPP/E (preferred).
- Having knowledge of applicable privacy legislation such as the New Zealand Privacy Act (2020) and GDPR.
- Knowledge of industry leading data quality and privacy management practices.
- Extensive experience in identification of potential risks and controls as well as developing and managing risk management frameworks.
- Knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues.
- Proven strong technical, functional and process knowledge.
- Proven capabilities of solution life cycle management.
- Record of accomplishment designing and architecting solutions to complex business problems.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Proven record of self-motivated professional development and advancement, and mentorship of others.
- Ideally you will have experience in a retail organization and understanding of key industry business and data concepts.
- Experience working in an Agile environment, with exposure to Scrum and understand Agile Best Practice.
