**About LGNZ**

Local Government New Zealand (LGNZ) provides the vision and voice for local democracy in Aotearoa. They have a bold ambition to create the most active and inclusive local democracy in the world.

They’ve been around since 1988 to represent the national interest of councils and to lead best practice in local government through policy and advocacy work and by building council capability through learning, development, and consulting.

Now more than ever, our communities need a vision and a voice to unite the shared interests of Aotearoa. A vision that truly understands the issues that confront us today as well as anticipates those that will challenge us tomorrow. A voice that can translate meaningfully and powerfully - from the Beehive to our communities around the country.

**About the role**

As the right-hand person to the Chief Executive, your responsibilities will include:

- Strategically managing their priorities and diary on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Ensuring they are well prepared for meetings, and having the appropriate information to hand
- Organising meetings, travel and accommodation
- Turning your hand to whatever else is needed to ensure that they are best placed to get on with their day

Furthermore, you will act as the secretary to the National Council (Board). This includes:

- Scheduling meetings, travel and accommodation
- Preparing and distributing meeting papers
- Attending meetings and taking minutes.
- Organising and communicating with external speakers and attendees
- Providing administrative support to the National Council President and Vice President.

As part of a smaller team, and within an organisation with bold ambitions, committed to serving our communities across Aotearoa you can expect this role to vary and require you to step in to support the overall success of the team.

**About you**

Super-organised and proactive, you anticipate needs and have pride in your ability to get things done. You consistently strive for excellence and have an eye for continuous improvement, actively seeking ways to improve systems and processes. You’re a natural relationship builder, with the following key attributes:

- Proven experience in a support role at an executive level
- Discreet, with the ability to exercise good judgement and maintain confidentiality
- Confidence to anticipate needs and respond accordingly
- Common sense with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and adjust to last-minute changes.

**What’s in it for you?**

LGNZ takes the opinions and needs of their people seriously. They’ve recently completed a staff survey and ran in-depth workshops to understand the experience people have working at LGNZ and what their future needs might be. LGNZ people say that they appreciate working in an environment that is supportive, flexible, creative, positive and fun. They’ve identified that success of the team depends on feeling connected, appreciated, inspired, curious, optimistic and supported. These are real sentiments identified by the people who work for LGNZ.

- 5 weeks of annual leave, plus 3 days per annum between Christmas and New Year.
- A flexible working environment.
- Modern offices in the Cuba Quarter located close to funky cafes and eateries.
- Subsidised health insurance.
