**He angitutanga: About the Role**

As the Principal Conservation Technology Advisor, you will lead the creation and development of conservation technology systems and solutions to support the Department of Conservation's needs across various conservation functions. This includes the development of our monitoring data systems and the implementation of monitoring technologies such as drones and remote sensors.

Utilising your technical leadership and specialist knowledge, you'll work closely with Directors and Managers to agree whole of business group priorities, identifying areas for collaboration and efficiency for cross-functional teams.

A key focus for the role will be to ensure alignment with our data framework, IT and information systems, and to offer positive and supportive technical leadership across the group. You'll also work closely with ISS to ensure clarity of roles and responsibilities in relation to field technology and alignment of strategic direction.

You'll have your finger on the pulse, growing and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of customers current and future needs by continuously gathering feedback from stakeholders and seeking opportunities for practical improvements. Occasionally we have unusual or unique requests, so you'll also be responsible for building networks and identifying providers to assist with these requests.

- Significant expertise within a technology field, specifically in new and developing technologies including remote sensing, drones and LiDAR
- Successful project delivery experience
- Experience in the development and deployment of unique and novel technology solutions.
- Knowledge and experience of monitoring and management, including natural and historic heritage, community and visitor aspirations
- In depth knowledge of environmental and conservation issues
- Exceptional collaboration and relationship management skills
- Understanding of the impact DOC and the government sector has on the Maori-Crown relationship.

The salary range for this position is $108,617 - $137,645 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.

Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory - this includes holding a valid work visa that covers the whole period of employment. Due to high volumes, we are not engaging with recruitment agencies for this role.
