People in the corrections system have needs that affect their wellbeing and reintegration prospects - and very often these include complex health and rehabilitation needs. The Pae Ora group works to understand each person's holistic healthcare and rehabilitative needs. This includes needs associated with their primary health, mental health, Rongoa Māori needs, alcohol and drug dependency, and offending. The group's focus is on ensuring people in the corrections system remain connected to the broader health and social wellbeing system (inclusive of whānau) through pathways of support that extend into communities. This holistic approach helps achieve more equitable health and rehabilitation outcomes building the foundations for wellbeing and effective participation in society and beginning to realise the outcomes we seek through Hōkai Rangi. As one of the department's three core operational service groups, Pae Ora works together with the Custodial Services, and Communities, Partnerships & Pathways groups, to deliver effective, integrated, and high-quality services
Ngā kawenga | About the role
We are now recruiting for a Principal Adviser Monitoring and Performance to join our Pae Ora whānau.
The Principal Adviser Monitoring & Performance supports the Director Office of the DCE Pae Ora, delivering advice and support across the Pae Ora function including managing monitoring entity processes, functional business planning and monitoring of functional performance against plans. The position accountabilities include:

- Managing the monitoring entities and other related recommendation and complaints processes for the Pae Ora function and provides organisation/function level reporting on them.
- Supports functional business planning activities within Pae Ora function, ensuring key external body recommendations are built within future planning activities.
- Provides support to the Director Office of the DCE Pae Ora by ensuring that actions and recommendations from audits, enquiries and investigations related to the delivery within Pae Ora function are implemented
- Supports the development of performance measures against functional Pae Ora plans and outcomes
- Supports the development of Pae Ora budget bid/investments to ensure that external body recommendations and outcomes are being actively invested in.
- Monitors performance against key measures and indicators, using reports to understand and communicate trends and opportunities for continuous improvements
- Leads on the development and oversight for Pae Ora of second line assurance approaches in line with the direction set by the Organisational Resilience & Safety function.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

**To be successful in this role you will have**:

- Proven experience providing advice at a senior level with the ability to influence areas outside your immediate sphere of control.
- Ability to analyse and report audit trends, consolidate and analyse data gathered from performance measures, and experience in using performance management frameworks, systems and tools
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Experience in risk identification, mitigation and management
- Experience with large scale organisational change and governance, ideally with working knowledge of a broad range of processes related to health, rehabilitation and/or disability service delivery
- Extensive knowledge of business operations, objectives, strategies, process and information flow as well as knowledge of industry best practices associated with planning and performance standards, outcomes and measures
- Experience in the justice sector/correction services including advising on policy and service delivery
- Commitment to innovation, quality improvement, safety and positive experience of health, rehabilitation and/or disability care for patients, including vulnerable groups (e.g., women, youth, Māori, and Pasifika).
- Knowledge of the obligations of health, psychology and rehabilitation/wellbeing practitioners under Te Tiriti o Waitangi with an understanding of current inequities faced by Māori and a commitment to improving outcomes for Māori.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
The mid point of the salary range is $133,519 and the full range (85%-120%) is $113,492 to $160,223. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
