**About the role**

Arms Safety & Control (ASC) regulate the Arms Act to promote the safe possession and use of firearms and other weapons. We're modernising how we do this by introducing new ways to improve regulatory outcomes and customer experience.

To support this, we have a Quality Assurance and Performance Lead position based at PNHQ, who will take national responsibility for monitoring and reporting on performance, quality assurance and championing change to ensure ongoing improvement in arms regulatory services. By ensuring high quality and efficient regulation and administration of the Arms Act and Arms Regulations, this role directly contributes towards the delivery of Our Business.

Your leadership will build a culture of high performance which results in teams that are inclusive, innovative, agile and passionate in meeting Arms Safety & Control outcomes.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Report on and have visibility of District and National Arms Safety and Control programme of work and to support the implementation of changes to process practice and quality standards in Firearms licensing.
- Take national responsibility for regulatory services, champion change and quality assurance to ensure ongoing improvement in arms regulatory services.
- Monitor and provide advice to the Firearms National Manager and Leadership Team on ongoing development, support, maintenance and improvements in the delivery of Firearms regulatory services.
- Understand organisational and operational risk. Develop risk-based assurance activities utilising tools such as FLRR and report on levels of compliance;
- Collect and analyse data and report to the Police Executive and District Commanders on overall performance.
- Facilitate the communication of national lessons learned findings and implementation of best practice changes resulting from evaluation of QAIF and risk reviews.
- Monitor NIA anomalies in firearms licensing records and keep Districts informed of actions required to rectify
- Maximise use and value of the SAS firearms dashboard and work collaboratively with ICT to improve visibility of performance indicators;
- Work in collaboration with other agencies to support the improved regulatory approach to firearms
- Coordinate and deliver training and presentations and facilitate discussions on quality and performance measures.
- Provide administrative, programme and logístical support for programme leadership as required.
