Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
The Hospital and Specialist Services (HSS) is the largest business unit within Te Whatu Ora and is responsible for the day-to-day care and operational delivery of safe, quality hospital and specialist services across the motu, as well as national priorities and system change.
The team is arranged across four regions, led by Regional Directors to ensure national priorities are delivered in way that works for local communities. This group works in close partnership with Te Aka Whai Ora to ensure that Māori health outcomes and equity of access is improved.
Supporting the work of the regions, there are a small number of national, strategic business units within HSS. The purpose of the System Delivery business unit is to provide direct leadership for the performance of the HSS system and to ensure a coherent, nationwide approach to service delivery.
The Group Manager - Acute Demand and System Pressures is a senior role within the System Delivery team, responsible for leading and maintaining a robust relationship with the Ministerial advisers and as well as at district level. As a member of the System Delivery leadership team, the Group Manager - Acute Demand & System Pressures will work with other HSS national teams and regional teams to deliver whole of system strategies and solutions for Acute Demand & System Pressures.

In this role, you will be a key influencer who creates strong relationships with Hospital and Specialist Services teams on a local, regional and national level as well as the Ministerial advisers to ensure HSS delivers its strategies and solutions for Acute Demand & System Pressures. You would be skilled at both contributing to and operationalising strategy.

- A relevant graduate and post-graduate qualification
- At least 5 years of experience in either a hospital and/or wider health system delivery environment
- Knowledge of successful Acute Demand and System Pressures strategies
- Proven experience successfully leading large diverse teams through change and achieving improved results while navigating a highly nuanced and complex system
