Come and join the "Breakfast team" as the Senior Planning Producer** **The opportunity - Te tūranga** In this senior role on Breakfast, you will contribute to the editorial direction of the Breakfast programme ensuring we have the latest and most informative news content every day. This role will focus on both breaking news and long term planning for the show. Your focus will be to meet TVNZ's strategy and play a major part of reaching agreed targets of quality, budget and ratings. To be viewed as a senior leader within the Breakfast team. The key responsibilities for this role will be: - Support the setup team throughout the day to ensure we have the freshest and most compelling news interviews for the following day. - Work on more in depth and highly researched content thus generating our own stories and setting the news agenda for the day - Contribute a range of ideas on a daily basis, from hard news through to the lighter and more fun segments - Use different treatments and techniques to tell each story in the way that suits it best, keeping a creative eye across the show as a whole. - Contribute to editorial direction of Breakfast and demonstrate strong editorial decision making abilities. - Establish and maintain familiarity with the day's news through online news sites, briefings, wire services, radio, 24 hour TV news networks and other sources. - Contribute to story generation, selection, and treatment. - Co-ordinate camera operators, live link engineers and resources required for weather and other live or taped segments. - Ensure plans for use of crew and resources are clearly and accurately communicated to studio crew and other NCA managers and co-ordinators - Provide accurate, concise briefing notes for presenters and/or reporters. - Formulate and write attention-grabbing teasers and programme openers and edit appropriate visual images and audio. - Write accurate, concise and attention-grabbing introductions to programme segments. - Communicate segment and report requirements to all crew who will be involved in item production, including Assignments Desk staff. - Deliver quality, accurate, innovative and well produced stories on time, optimising available resources in a cost-effective manner that keeps to budget. - Maintain flow of information about story developments and refer any legal, ethical, budgetary or potentially contentious issues to programme Editor. - Identify and develop fresh and emerging ideas appropriate to programme content, presentation and production. - Generate social media content and help with management of the programme channels online. **What we're looking for - Tā mātou e kimi nei** To be successful in this role, you will need the following - A good knowledge of the craft of making television using graphic elements and other treatments to tell a story the best way possible - A keen eye for up and coming stories and news topics that need highlighting - Strong contacts across a range of sectors - Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. - Strong attention to detail - Sound and fast decision-making skills. - Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills. - Good general knowledge across industry. - Good judgment and problem solving skills. - Focused, and performs well under pressure. - Able to work with deadlines. **Working at TVNZ - Te mahi ki Te Reo Tātaki** - A vibrant culture where we celebrate our content and our successes, and where we're encouraged to continue learning and growing our careers - A $350 up front allowance to contribute to home office set up expenses - Comprehensive parental leave - topping up the Government's offering to 6 months at full pay, as well as 6 weeks working at 80% of your normal time at full pay when you return to work, plus 4 week's paid leave and an optional extra 2 week's unpaid for partners - Lifestyle Leave - the option to buy an extra week or two of leave annually if you want it, to take leave without pay if circumstances allow, or to cash up leave if you've got more than you need. - A $350 annual wellbeing allowance, discounted Southern Cross health insurance, free flu shots, and access to a confidential support, guidance and counselling service. - Superannuation covered - with employee contributions matched up to 5% of salary. - Hauora Leave - A bonus 5thweek off annually to find your balance and focus on you - whether that's by connecting with whānau, taking time for yourself, or escaping the everyday. - A new Broadband and Mobile benefit offer so you'll be able to work from anywhere and be free to stream and binge watch with no limits.
