Karaka Special Treatment Unit (STU) is a dedicated “community of change” based at Waikeria Prison, renowned for its success in supporting the rehabilitation of people in our care who have a history of high-risk and violent offending. Our psychologically based therapeutic programmes have been recognised as having a significant and positive impact in our quest to reduce reoffending.
He kōrero mōu | About you
As a Psychologist located in Karaka STU, you will be facilitating an intensive group programme within a therapeutic community designed to reduce the offending rates of people in our care who are assessed as having significant rehabilitation needs. You will also provide clinical and risk assessments, advice, supervision, and training to other Corrections staff and may be involved in research work in the context of the scientist/practitioner model.
**We are looking for a Psychologist who**:
- Is reliable with strong communication skills (verbal & written)
- Has a minimum of a Masters degree in Psychology
- Holds registration or is able to obtain registration with the NZ Psychologist board.
- Is able to demonstrate and commit to culturally responsive ways of working

Utu ā-tau | Salary
The salary range for the role is $76,860 - $104,571 (Mid) - $125,485. We may also offer flexible and/or part-time options for working hours. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
