Wellington City, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

As the owner and operator of New Zealand's national grid, Transpower plays a vital role in powering the country. Behind the scenes, a well-managed supply chain makes sure equipment and materials are in the right place, at the right time, to support essential infrastructure projects and maintenance.

**About the team**

Our Inventory & Logistics team plays a key role in keeping the national grid running smoothly. We manage Transpower's warehouses facilities, track and monitor stock levels, and work closely with people across the business to forward plan demand and coordinate the correct inventory holdings to ensure timely delivery, supporting everything from planned grid upgrades to urgent repairs.

**About the opportunity - a newly created role**

As our new Inventory Analyst, you'll take ownership of a complex, high-value inventory portfolio with a focus on accuracy, forecasting, and continuous improvement. You'll spend a significant part of your time working with inventory data, supporting the delivery of major projects, and identifying opportunities to optimise stock levels and reduce costs.

You'll also define and track performance metrics to help us stay customer-focused and efficient. This role involves working closely with Senior Category Managers, Grid Delivery project teams, and other parts of the business, turning data into practical insights that improve day-to-day operations, strengthen forward forecasting, and support Transpower's strategic improvement initiatives.

**About you**

You're adaptable, resilient, and comfortable with complexity. You enjoy working with large datasets and systems, and you're confident navigating change. You bring strong technical skills (particularly in Excel and ERP systems) and you're ready to help shape this role and take systems and processes to the next level to drive improvement.

**To be considered, your CV and cover letter will clearly demonstrate**:

- Extensive experience in Supply Chain Operations Management roles such as Demand Planner, Supply Chain Analyst, or similar.
- Proficiency with forecasting and demand planning tools, including hands-on experience using ERP systems for supply and demand analysis.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Experience cleansing and interpreting data to generate actionable insights.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt quickly to changing projects and systems.
- Proven ability to engage constructively with stakeholders at all levels to influence planning and support effective decision-making.
- Advanced Excel skills, including modelling, formulas, and data visualisation, plus experience improving business processes.
- A tertiary qualification in a related field (e.g. Business Administration, Statistics, Economics) and/or equivalent experience.

**Nice to have (but not essential)**:

- Experience in Maximo administration and related solutions.
- Experience with Power BI and/or SQL for reporting and analytics.
- Deeper knowledge of ERP systems, especially Inventory and Warehousing modules.
- A degree or qualification in Supply Chain Management.

**What sets this role apart?**

It's your ability to shape the way we manage inventory in one of our most critical categories - primary assets.

You'll lead key pieces of work, from setting and reporting on inventory metrics, to establishing a lifecycle management process for 5000+ SKUs, to improving forward demand planning with the Grid Delivery division.

You'll be part of a supportive, collaborative team with a strong pipeline of projects and great job security. There's real scope here to make a difference, and your fresh thinking and initiative will help shape how the group operates into the future.
