We are Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland. We provide health and disability services to more than half a million people living in central Auckland, regional services for Northland and greater Auckland, and specialist national services for the whole of New Zealand. **Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

Te Toka Tumai Auckland is a leading provider of health services with an international reputation. We are responsible for medical services across three main sites, Auckland City Hospital, Greenlane Clinical Centre and Buchanan Rehabilitation Centre for the delivery of health care and health promotion in partnership with a range of agencies across the many communities of Auckland.

To continue to meet the growing needs of our community and support a workforce to do their best work, we are undertaking a ten-year programme to ensure our infrastructure (power, heating, cooling, electrical systems, lifts etc.) is fit for the future. This is a key Health & Safety role function for large programme of infrastructure remediation works.

Te Toka Tumai Auckland is undertaking the largest Te Whatu Ora (formally DHB) Facilities Infrastructure Remediation Programme (FIRP) in NZ, whilst maintaining business as usual maintenance activities. We are now looking for an experienced and highly motivated Health & Safety professional to join our innovative and multi-disciplined team to ensure that Health and Safety is implemented during all projects delivered for FIRP.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate Health and Safety professional to make their mark within a huge organisation where no two days are the same. This critical position sits within the FIRP team and will be responsible for promoting, engaging and influencing health and safety. You will play a key role in driving the improvement in safety culture working with our large (maintenance and construction) subcontractor workforce across our sites.

**Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills**

As the H&S Manager you will possess a well-developed ability to work professionally with a range of internal and external stakeholders and be able to influence the continuous improvement of our safety culture at all levels. You will be easy to get along with, proactive, service driven and be able to meet the demands of a fast-paced role in a diverse environment with ease.

You will be required to be hands-on, to ensure your success in this role.

You will develop and implement strategies and policies that will help achieve our goal of being the best at what we do Your knowledge of effective contractor management, current legislation, and audit standards, and H&S best practice will be paramount.

You will likely have come from a large, campus type environment or diverse organisation where dealing with complexity is the norm.

You will need to be fully conversant with NZ's H&S legislation (including the HSWA Asbestos Regulations 2016) with proven practical experience of at least 7 years in a similar environment.

**Skills and experience**
- Relevant Health and Safety tertiary qualification
- Expert knowledge of current NZ legislation
- Demonstrated and significant H&S Management experience with a proven level of professional credibility
- Proven experience in creating a proactive safety behavioural culture
- Demonstrated capability in working with and influencing contractors, Senior Leadership and Managers
- Highly organised and solutions focused with an eye for continuous improvement
- Great problem solving skills with an innovative approach
- Motivated, influential and enthusiastic personality with exceptional people management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
