**Ko tou ake mahi - What you'll do**
The Deputy Registrar (Assisted Dying) plays a pivotal role in supporting the statutory functions of the End of Life Choice Act 2019. This senior position provides technical expertise, strategic advice, and leadership to ensure effective administration of the Act.
This involves building strong relationships across health and regulatory sectors, enhancing data and quality systems, and contributing to legislative and policy development.
You will have the opportunity to shape frameworks and solutions that uphold safety, integrity, and compassion in end-of-life care.
- Lead statutory functions under the End of Life Choice Act 2019
- Strengthen regulatory excellence within the team
- Provide senior technical expertise and strategic advice to inform decision-making
- Strengthen relationships with health agencies, statutory committees, and professional networks
- Drive improvements in data collection, reporting, and quality assurance across the sector
- Champion equity and Treaty of Waitangi obligations in all aspects of the role
**Ko nga pukenga ou - What you'll bring**
- You will hold a _current registration as a Medical Practitioner_ with the New Zealand Medical Council and _an annual practising certificate_
- Significant post-vocational/speciality medical practice experience, with broad clinical expertise and ideally regulation or quality assurance background
- Strong knowledge of the End-of-Life Choice Act 2019, health quality and safety processes, and complaint management systems
- Proven ability to think critically, make sound decisions under pressure, and communicate complex ideas clearly and coherently
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining effective professional relationships across health, government, and stakeholder networks, with resilience in diverse contexts
