The Development Manager is responsible leading software development projects for Building and Planning group, delivering new products and features for release and supporting existing customers. You will also have responsibility for the management and personal development of a diverse team of 10 to 12 software engineers and QA analysts

**Responsibilities**:

- Motivate and energise your team. Provide clear goals and context. Provide direction, monitor tasks, mentor team, create personal development plans for all members of team, recruit, and manage overall performance of team.
- Manage a team of 10-12 software engineers and QA analysts.
- Plan, execute, monitor and successfully deliver software development projects
- As a member of the NZ leadership team contribute to defining product strategy for the Building and Planning group.
- Work closely with our product management team to ensure that we are building the best products.
- Facilitate and contribute to technical decisions
- Support existing customers
- Continually improve our Agile development processes and implement best practice in software development
- Collaborate with other departments to deliver customer solutions
- Establish relationships with the local software development community, local universities and local government to lift Objective’s profile and become an employer of choice in the region for graduates and IT professionals

**Personal Attributes & Experience**:

- A proven leader who can deliver under pressure, lead by example and be a point of stability for the team
- Minimum 5 years project management experience and a track record of successfully leading teams delivering technically complex software projects, ideally developing customer facing, commercial software products.
- Experience building highly creative and product centric teams, driving capability uplift, team development, and collaboration
- Strong sense of ownership, urgency and drive
- A deep understanding of Agile development methodologies, SCRUM and Kanban, is essential.
