Primary role responsibilities will include but not limited to; investment sourcing, due diligence support, deal sourcing, market analysis, analysis of clients’ trends and insights, production of go-to-market content, collaboration with other VCs and CVCs to develop a strategic understanding of what technologies are required to address client problems. The role involves working closely with the Mott MacDonald internal Business Units and the Digital Ventures team to drive engagement with start-ups to deliver value to our clients.
This is an exciting role for an enthusiastic self-starter who works on own initiative. Confident and positive, high-energy, cultured, capable of easily interacting with senior management. Flexible and willing to get involved in many different aspects of the business as required.
- Our preferred applicant will have a university degree, college diploma or equivalent in the Technology field, Engineering (or related discipline) or Business/Management/Finance and have 3-5 years relevant experience.
You should already have:

- An awareness of CVC or VC or start-up ecosystems.
- An awareness of corporate and start-up interactions
- Experience and / or technical interest in software, the Built Environment, Transport, Energy or Water sectors.
- Understanding of underlying technology trends (AI, Robotics, Cloud etc.).

- Mott MacDonald Ventures (MMV) is the Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) arm of Mott MacDonald. We invest in visionary founders that strive to enhance our built environment. The firm’s investments are strategically driven by our client’s problems or opportunities. Our investment focus is on digital technologies that complement our digital platform, Moata. We intend to grow our existing portfolio while also working closely with our existing invested partners to add value to Moata and our clients.
We are seeking an Investment Analyst to support our growth plans and help MMV execute strategic investments in early-stage start-ups and develop partnerships to deliver value to our clients and enhance our software platform. The role is based in Wynyard Quarter, Auckland but will work across Australia as well as with the global Mott MacDonald business.
