The Electoral Commission is looking for a Manager, IT Infrastructure to join the Information Technology team on a permanent basis. You will be part of a supportive, hard-working, professional team that is dedicated to ensuring the Commission's IT solutions run smoothly and securely so that it can deliver excellent services to the public.
The position reports to the Senior Manager IT Services and will be responsible for managing all operational-related processes. The role ensures that the operation of the Electoral Commission's IT Infrastructure meets defined service levels, and serve as the service owner for all IT infrastructure services and solutions

To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced IT professional with experience leading IT teams. You will be pro-active, can collaborate with others and be competent at managing conflicts. You will have the ability to work in complex environments and be comfortable working with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. You will be an expert problem solver that is comfortable working through ambiguity to achieve required outcomes. You will be an expert people leader that has a natural desire for coaching and mentoring, with the ability to build a high performing team, aligned to a common purpose.
What you'll be doing | He aha tāu e mahi ana
- Participate in the operational management of the Commission's IT systems, websites and infrastructure
- Provide support to other teams to assist them to plan, understand and communicate effectively their IT needs
- Support the implementation of the infrastructure portion of projects,
- Work closely with development teams and systems administrators to manage enhancements implementation
- Develops budgets based on IT-wide agreed work programme and priorities, affordability and identifies, communicates, and manages budget requirements
- Ensures that business relationships are maintained
- Develop an understanding, and recognise and act upon, the articles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
What you'll need to succeed | Ko ngā mea ka hiahiatia e koe kia angitū
- A relevant IT degree with at least 10 years' experience in IT support management roles
- Experience managing the service and performance of ICT vendors
- Experience managing and leading internal technical staff
- Experience in overseeing various infrastructure projects
- Experience working in an AoG environment
- Knowledge of testing processes and principals, and experience coordinating User Acceptance Testing
- Well-developed analytical skills with the ability to formulate and articulate well-reasoned solutions
