**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

We are on the lookout for a **Simulation Technician** to join our team on a Full Time - Permanent basis at the **Simulation Centre for Patient Safety**. The role will provide advanced clinical technical support for senior medical and health sciences undergraduate students (medical, nursing, optometry, and pharmacy), postgraduate students, and various healthcare professionals, covering a wide range of internal and external courses and workshops deemed essential for safe medical practice in a hospital or community situation.

You will also work closely with course coordinators/convenors to determine the pedagogical drivers in clinical education. To provide course coordinators and tutors with substantive support and domain-specific technical skills whilst contributing to the development of practical learning resources and activities.

Key responsibilities of the role are:

- Ensure teaching facilities/rooms are clean and organised as per standard operating instructions, support the effective upkeep, safe and smooth operation, and logístical management of the learning spaces to deliver an excellent student experience.
- Independently conduct or assist coordination of effective operations of setup, operation, and pack-down of teaching activities, including preparation of props, patient notes, order consumables and stocktake and other simulation-related items and materials in advance.
- Take technical lead role support with running and training of specialised and high-fidelity clinical equipment and simulators for the course teaching and conduct preventive maintenance, repairs, and testing on a regular basis to ensure they are safe and in working order.
- Provide technical expertise on using a simulation environment-designed Audio-Visual (AV) system, support on software updates and knowledge on operating the backup system
- Provide technical perspective assistance on the appropriate design of new learning activities and revising some current courses within the clinical simulation curriculum and medical programmes.
- Proactively monitoring and maintaining Health & Safety standards within the teaching facilities, which is a legislative requirement by the University

This is a full-time, 37.5 hours per week, permanently. The salary range for this role is $57,000 - $71,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.

- Tertiary qualification in a health science or engineering field **preferably** with experience in a clinical setting
- Experience in explaining and resolving complex technical issues in a clinical practice setting
- Ability to work well autonomously in a busy environment and can prioritise workloads efficiently to meet course demands and deadlines
- Demonstrable experience in coaching and mentoring
- Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to engaging with internal and external staff and various organisations
- Good computer literacy and interest in learning various system
