About the role
We have a great opportunity for two Advisors to join our high performing and friendly policy teams: Regulatory Frameworks and Operational Policy.
Both teams have a friendly, supportive environment with a manager who actively empowers the team to work collaboratively, take charge and deliver.

- The Regulatory Frameworks team works to ensure that the legislation WorkSafe administers supports it to operate effectively as a regulator and achieve its harm prevention goals. We do this by working collaboratively with the Health and Safety Policy team at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) on its regulatory work programme, providing the regulator's perspective.
As an Advisor in Regulatory Frameworks, your primary focus will be on providing high-quality and timely policy and regulatory advice within WorkSafe. This will involve building strong relationships with technical and legal experts, unpicking problems, analysing options, and providing solutions, including developing secondary legislation. You will also provide advice on our regulatory framework to external agencies and represent WorkSafe's interests on changes to other regulatory frameworks.
*
- The Operational Policy team helps WorkSafe decide what it should and shouldn't do as a regulator within the legal boundaries set by legislation. We do this by:
- developing and maintaining WorkSafe's operational policies and relationship agreements,
- identifying options, risks and implications to tricky operational problems
As an Advisor in Operational Policy, your primary focus will be on problem solving and developing good operational policy that helps WorkSafe fulfil its regulatory role. This will involve pro-actively building trusting relationships across the organisation, unpicking problems, identifying solutions and translating the outcome into clearly defined policies and positions.
**Key responsibilities**:
- Providing high quality advice and support across WorkSafe
- Developing policy and regulatory advice, and secondary legislation
- Unpicking problems, identifying risks, analysing options, and recommending solutions, consistent with WorkSafe's regulatory approach, legislation and strategic direction

- Knowledge of, or ability to quickly acquire knowledge of, the relevant regulatory frameworks and legislation within WorkSafe New Zealand
