Equally Well is an initiative that works to achieve physical health equity for all people who experience mental health and addiction issues. Functioning out of the Hillmorton Hospital Community Teams site the Clinical Nurse Specialist will be working across the South and East cluster leading the implementation and operationalisation of the SMHS Equally Well plan.

This full time role offers an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and motivated individual who is looking to expand their career pathway to take on a clinical leadership role. You will be an expert at developing and extending nursing practices. You will have a sound understanding of the physical health inequity experienced by people living with mental illness and addiction. You will have well-developed practical skills in physical health assessments, nursing interventions and health education. This role requires clinical expertise and the ability to mentor and develop clinicians ability to improve physical health outcomes for Tangata Whaiora. As a dynamic go-getter you will be working autonomously as part of multi-disciplinary teams. You will actively seek opportunities to collaborate and partner with primary health care allies and facilitate primary health care relationships and services for Tangata Whaiora under SMHS care.

This job requires:

- A Registered Nurse who is passionate about providing specialised care, and a passion for physical health equality for all consumers
- Experienced, Nurse, Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC - must include scope for Mental Health Nursing
- Adhere to guidelines of Cultural Safety and the Treaty of Waitangi
- Motivated and flexible self-starter with the ability to work both in a team and autonomously
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills
- Expert clinical nursing knowledge and leadership ability
- Extensive experience working within specialist mental health is essential - you will hold a relevant post graduate qualification, and have a least three years post graduate experience in mental health.
- The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused.
- As a role model it is expected you will engage with nursing staff and members of Multi-Disciplinary Teams to ensure effective relationships are developed and maintained, therefore your integrity, excellent interpersonal skills, effective organisational and time management skills and clinical credibility are imperative to the success of this role
