We are currently seeking a highly skilled Neonatal Research Nurse to join our team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with neonatologists, researchers, and other healthcare professionals to conduct cutting-edge research studies in neonatal care.

The Nurse Coordinator is an acknowledged nursing leader for neonatal research. They function within a multi-disciplinary team as a role model and resource person to ensure:

- There is co-ordination and recruitment of participants into specified studies.
- The promotion of nursing excellence, co-ordinating and supervising the expert care requirements for patients and families participating in relevant research studies within the Neonatal Service.
- To be a resource person and mentor for other neonatal clinical staff as well as patients and their families for information, education and assistance regarding specific studies.
- Contributes to the development of relevant research protocols and guidelines to facilitate the planned/anticipated studies.
- Contribution to parent newsletters and dissemination of information to consumer groups and allied health groups within the Women and Child Health Division, Te Whatu Ora Wiataha Canterbury.
- Perform designated tasks as part of the clinical team including local multi-centre, national or International Collaborative studies.

The Neonatal Service at Christchurch Women - s Hospital is an acute service providing secondary/tertiary care to newborn babies born prematurely or with surgical, congenital and medical complications following birth. We are a 44 bedded unit compromised of 12 intensive care and 32 special care cot - s and our catchment area is approximately 20,000 square kilometres of the South Island.

As a senior member of the neonatal multidisciplinary team, the successful applicant will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to provide effective clinical leadership, direction and support to the neonatal nursing staff. The ability to problem solves, make key decisions and confront/resolve issues are imperative to ensuring the provision of safe effective evidence-based quality care to the infants and families of the Neonatal Services.

**Essential**
- Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current Annual Practising Certificate.
- Clinical expertise within the neonatal speciality and nursing research
- Holds or actively working towards a relevant post graduate qualification
- Demonstrates a research-based ethos.
- Demonstrated skills in nursing leadership
- Demonstrated skills in teaching/mentoring skills
- Proficient with computer skills, excel, access and external database programs

**Desirable**:

- Demonstrates involvement in research that has changed nursing practice
- Involvement in national research groups.
