**Tēnei tūranga - About the Role**:
An awesome opportunity has arisen for permanent and fixed term Principal Engagement and Communications Advisors to join MBIE's Engagement, Communications and Ministerial Services Branch.

One of these roles you will support communications initiatives across a wide range of operational areas spanning emergency response, temporary accommodation, tenancy, employment, consumer affairs, business, building, and several regulators amongst an extremely diverse portfolio of work in the Te Whakatairanga Service Delivery group in MBIE.

In the other two roles - one permanent, one fixed term covering parental leave - you will be supporting our work in the high-profile Immigration portfolio by delivering high-level strategic communications advice and services.

You will work with a broad variety of stakeholders, including Ministers' offices, the media and external counterparts in other public services agencies. You will need to be people focused and thrive under pressure and have a proactive approach wanting to deliver best practice communication solutions.

- You will have strong communications experience and bring an innovative and proactive approach to delivering best practice communication solutions.
- You will also have experience working in the role of trusted advisor, bringing excellent relationship management skills and senior communications experience.
- You will be a strategic thinker, with the ability to identify and respond to emerging strategic issues, able to see issues through a range of lenses and perspectives and identify connections between potential projects and issues.

Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and Experience Required
- Experience as a senior communications professional and able to think on your feet, manage effectively, show leadership and demonstrate best practice
- The ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships and to develop trust and credibility with senior managers, staff and key internal and external stakeholders
- Understanding of Government decision-making and operating procedures
- Deep experience in issues and risk management, proactive planning, multi-media and digital communications
- Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to communicate complex issues clearly, succinctly, and with influence, and be able to adapt styles to suit different channels and audiences.
- A proactive, can-do attitude with a high level of initiative, sound judgement and discretion.
