We are looking for a proven communications professional to support and guide our Agency by leading our communications and engagement.

**Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team**: Te Aho o Te Kahu provides national leadership and oversight of cancer control as well as system-wide prioritisation and coordination of cancer care in Aotearoa. The Agency has a key role in driving the system change needed to achieve the ambitious goals set out in the New Zealand Cancer Action Plan 2019-2029.
The Office of the Chief Executive undertakes enabling functions to support the work of the agency. This includes managing information flow, communications, media engagement, and a range of machinery of government functions. It also coordinates planning and reporting at an organisational level, along with business and financial management.

Te whainga poto o tēnei tūranga - What is the purpose of this position?: The Communications & Engagement Advisor leads strategic communication and engagement for Te Aho o Te Kahu. This role provides quality advice, strengthening our connections with key health agencies and the profile and reputation of the Agency.

**Ngā Pūkenga me ngā Wheako - Skills & Experience**:

- Significant experience in strategic communications and engagement planning
- Demonstrated ability to provide professional, independent and objective advice
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; good planning and organisational skills.
- Understanding of and commitment to improving equity of outcomes for Māori, Pacific, and other high needs populations
- Knowledge of the machinery of Government and managing at the political interface
- Sound understanding of tikanga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles
