**The Opportunity**

Looking for more fun and variety in your next career move? The UCSA has the answer with our Communications & Marketing Manager role.

Leading our newly created Communications & Marketing team, you will actively lead the team to promote wellbeing expos one day, slick corporate catering the next, and work across the organisation, connecting us with our stakeholders and promoting our services. This includes charitable work supporting students at the Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury (UC) picturesque Ilam campus, and our mahi in the community where the UCSA owns and operates (award-winning) commercial businesses.

Day to day, you will be responsible for the delivery of the annual communications plan to students, engaging them and raising their awareness of our services (events, clubs, advocacy, representation, and welfare). You will also lead exciting campaigns to support our commercial projects and reach new clients. These include cosy cafés, The Foundry bar, equipment hire, venue hire, two early learning centres for children, and a stake in the UC bookshop. The UCSA is also a proud provider for the Ka Ora, Ka Ako | Healthy School Lunches programme.

**About You**

We are looking for an all-rounder with a couple of years management experience under their belt, or ready to take their next step into management: an empathetic and effective leader, and a creative communications and/or marketing whiz who can write and strategize for different audiences and platforms.

To be successful in the role, you will bring a sense of fun, energy, and creativity to the UCSA. You will also have great attention to detail, have a strong team ethos and can demonstrate relevant experience delivering internal and external communications and marketing plans/campaigns through a range of channels, including online and social. As well as this, you will have a strong working knowledge in all things IT, including CRM packages. To top this off, you will have great communication skills, can manage multiple projects and have a strong attention to detail.

Due to the nature of the role and the organisation, an affinity for and understanding of students is important.

**Important skills & Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s Degree (NZQA Level 7) or equivalent in Communications, Marketing, or a related field is preferable.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a similar communications and/or marketing role.
- 2 Years experience leading a team and managing people is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and work on several projects at once.
- Ability to prioritise, organise and manage competing tasks.
- Self-motivated, proactive with excellent time management skills.
- Willingness to work flexible and extended hours if required.
