**Te tīma | The Team**:
Join the Parliamentary Library, where we deliver trusted library, information and research to Members of Parliament, parliamentary staff, and agencies. As part of the Library Collections and Information team, you’ll help maintain the systems and resources that ensure New Zealand’s elected representatives have timely access to high-quality information.
**Mō te tūnga | About the Role**:
As Library Officer / Kaitautoko Pātaka Rangahau, you'll be a key part of the team that manages the library’s physical and electronic collections. But this isn’t your traditional librarian role - this is about connecting people with information, promoting resources in creative ways, and helping the library stay future-focused and responsive.
You’ll work closely with our research team and MP support staff to ensure seamless access to essential resources. Whether you’re cataloguing, supporting interloans, troubleshooting system access, or promoting content internally, you’ll help shape how Parliament connects with information.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the acquisition, cataloguing, organisation, and access of physical and electronic library materials
- Supporting systems used to manage and access library collections
- Responding to customer enquiries, interloan and document delivery requests
- Contributing to the financial management of library resources, including processing invoices
- Troubleshooting technical issues with library systems and databases
- Supporting projects, team planning, and the development of promotional products or training sessions
**Tō kete | What You Will Bring to the Role**:
We’re looking for someone who enjoys working in a dynamic, customer-focused environment and is keen to support the inner workings of one of New Zealand’s most trusted libraries. You’ll bring:
- A can-do attitude and strong interpersonal skills—you're outgoing, approachable, and energised by customer interaction
- Strong customer service skills and a desire to help others
- Interest in librarianship, research, and the role of information in a democratic society
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Great communication—both written and verbal
- Enthusiasm for working collaboratively and delivering high standards
- Curiosity about digital tools and using systems like Microsoft 365 and Copolit
- Library work experience or qualifications would be useful.
We’re especially keen to hear from people who bring fresh perspectives, creative thinking, and a willingness to get stuck in.
**Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou | What's in it for You?**
We offer a range of benefits including 5 weeks annual leave, access to an on-site gym and pool, learning and development opportunities and flexible working arrangements. Our ever-changing environment allows us to be part of the action at Parliament including attending question time, select committees and other key events. We offer a thorough induction, on-going development, and excellent working conditions.
**Please note**: This is a full-time role. The salary range for this position is $64,485 - $79,907 per annum, with the potential for the salary to exceed this range based on skills and experience.
