**Te Haeata/The Opportunity**

We are looking for a driven and customer focussed Senior HR Advisor to work closely and in partnership with internal customers.

You will proactively identify people related business needs, resolve issues and provide the calibre of support that builds leadership capability in all aspects of the people side of the business. This includes ensuring generalist advice and practices appropriately reflect people strategies, policies and frameworks aligned to the culture and support successful achievement of business objectives, commitments, and the organisation's vision and values.

Through driving your own caseload and working in collaboration with other People functions, you will provide a wide variety of operational and strategic HR advice across the entire employee lifecycle including performance management and ER, Industrial Relations, change management, talent and remuneration, and leadership development. You will work closely with a range of leaders to support and coach them to build and maintain high performing teams.

The successful applicant will have a proven track record of high-level HR delivery and will possess the superior technical, interpersonal and influencing skills necessary to help continue the development of an evolving and exciting culture.

**Key skills, experience and attributes required for this role include**:
Perfect for a talented generalist with strong ER experience, keen for a new challenge in an organisation that genuinely cares about its people and their community. You will bring with you a self-driven focus and be someone who can take the initiative in a fast paced and busy environment

Reporting to the Manager, Business Partnering and working closely with people leaders you will be able to:

- communicate with impact, build and maintain strong relationships and influence others to deliver great outcomes for our people
- to influence others and constructively challenge
- taking the lead on employment relations issues (e.g. misconduct, performance, sick leave and change management)
- coach and build the capability of frontline leaders on HR matters
- lead on or support change projects as required
- able to take HR metrics and discuss the insights from these with people leaders
- support delivery of projects across the People Operations and the wider People Experience team

The purpose of our People Experience team is to help the Ministry's people to have a great experience at work. This begins before they start with us and goes right though until they leave us. We build and operate the people-related practices that form the experience of the people who work here, in the areas of organisational development, learning, employment relations and human resources. We also advise and support our leaders and employees as they do their jobs day-to-day. We're a group of committed specialists who want to make a difference.

**Ō** pūkenga/Skills and Experience**

To be successful in this role, we are looking for you to have:

- 5+ years' generalist HR experience, ideally across a wide range of organisations including the public sector
- experience working at a Senior Advisor level providing generalist HR advice to leaders
- experience managing a range of Employment Relations issues independently
- ability to support organisational change projects
- a good understanding of the machinery of government
- able to develop relationships and working closely with both internal and external stakeholders)
- a commitment to honouring our responsibility to Māori and building your own māori capability
