An exciting opportunity has opened up to become a key member of our wider NZ design team, we are looking for an experienced Design Engineer with a Pavement or Geometric Engineering background to join our busy Technical Services team based in Penrose. We’re on the lookout for someone with a background as a Pavement or Geometric Design Engineer with experience in operational delivery. The primary responsibility for this role is to provide engineering design solutions for Pavement Rehabilitations and management of specific projects, delivering on contract requirements. Within this team, you will form part of the regional Technical Services group, and you’ll liaise with other Downer engineers across the country to help you deliver your work. You will be expected to own your design projects and provide adequate operational and technical support during the build phase. Providing support to Contract and Project Managers, Supervisors and Council Officers with calculations, completeness of data, and adherence to testing, analysis, design or contractual requirements will all be part of your day. You will also present and communicate designs to Transport Services team and encourage a collaborative approach for knowledge sharing. **What's on offer?** - Ownership; Be involved in projects from inception to construction completion. - Variety; A large variety of work available in across the Northern region and throughout New Zealand. - Interaction; Collaborate with internal and external clients, engineers, and contractors on a daily basis. - Construction Involvement; Work closely with those building your designs - Many opportunities to dust off your steel cap boots and get out in the field. - Growth; Downer support for your own learning and development plans. - Mentoring; Foster and enable graduate development - share your knowledge. **About you**: As someone who is keen to roll up their sleeves to work "hands on" in a collaborative way with the wider Downer operation; you will be happy to involve construction teams right from the conceptualisation of a new design. It goes without saying that you’ll also have excellent communication skills, enjoy working with customers and strive to enhance your and our credibility by fostering trusted relationships. You will join an experienced, enthusiastic team and who have an absolute commitment to growth and development. **You will also need one of the following**: - A Washington Accord accredited engineering degree. - A Bachelor of Engineering with Honours - A qualification at NZQF Level 7 or higher, with a letter from Engineering New Zealand certifying that the degree and any further learning meet the benchmark requirements towards Chartered Professional Engineer professional status in New Zealand. - NZ registration as a Chartered Professional Engineer by Engineering New Zealand.
