Director, Asia Pacific

**Location**: Wellington, New Zealand
As part of Castalia’s Asia-Pacific Team, this position will take responsibility for infrastructure assignments by developing and maintaining excellent client relationships, winning business, directing project execution, and supporting the development of a high-performing team. This role has a particular focus on NZ government-facing policy and regulatory assignments. Success is measured by sustainable profitability combined with the production of high-quality outputs that make a positive difference in the world.
Be one of the leaders in Castalia’s advisory work for infrastructure clients in New Zealand, Asia-Pacific and globally, including governments, regulators, investment funds, and development banks. Maintain strong relationships with existing and future clients. Win new work by identifying client needs and demonstrating how Castalia can fill these needs. Identify new and profitable areas of business and develop them successfully. The position reports to the Asia Pacific Practice Managing Director:
- Deliver high-quality, impactful advice on policy and regulatory reform in the infrastructure sector; financing investment needs; and public-private partnerships.
- Manage teams to execute projects successfully. Direct and supervise other less-experienced staff to:
- Ensure high-quality delivery of economic and financial analysis reports on infrastructure firms in New Zealand, Australia, and the Asia-Pacific region.
- Build and maintain economic and financial models in support of diverse client requirements like feasibility assessments, business operating model evaluation, and scenario testing.
- Undertake research and analysis on the effects of government policies on economic growth and general welfare in New Zealand, Australia, and the Asia-Pacific region.
- Prepare reports for clients on the economic and financial impacts of changes in the economic environment.
- Deliver business development tasks for consulting assignments by preparing of EOIs, proposals and pitches.
- Develop a high-performing team by identifying recruitment needs; developing team members through coaching and training (both formal and on-the-job), retaining high-performers; allocating resources to ensure deadlines are met; and working with the Asia-Pacific Managing Director to ensure a sustainable and profitable balance between maximising work throughput and ensuring staff workloads are reasonable.
- Contribute to the overall leadership of Castalia through a position on the management committee of the firm. Promote a ‘one-Castalia’ approach by sharing knowledge and creating opportunities to work with other teams. Exemplify and uphold Castalia’s values of integrity, intelligence, quality, and results.
