**About our team - Mō te tīma**
The Māori/Indigenous Health Innovation (MIHI) undertakes research, teaching and community service in response to supporting Māori health advancement. Our mahi is both teaching Hauora Māori to students and a range of health professionals and conducting Hauora Māori research.
The Department of Surgery and Critical Care encompasses nine surgical subspecialties, anaesthesia, intensive care and emergency medicine. We deliver excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate medical teaching and internationally recognised research.
**The role - Te mahi**
As a Clinical Research Nurse (Māori), you will join a supportive and professional research team, working closely with key research and clinical stakeholders on a colorectal cancer (CRC) study looking at circulating bacterial DNA as a predictive biomarker for metastasis in CRC.
You will provide research nursing support including patient recruitment, consenting, and taking blood samples at the time of admission for surgery and at follow up.
This role will involve establishing a liaison network with Māori patients and their Whanau regarding ongoing and upcoming colorectal cancer research conducted with in the department. This will include drafting ethical guidelines and assisting in the coordination of public hui alongside clinical and research staff.
**Your skills and experience - Kā pūkeka me kā wheako**
- Be registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ) as a Registered Nurse.
- Hold and maintain a current NCNZ annual practising certificate.
- Have experience in the management of people with surgical problems, with the ability to interpret clinical data pertaining to surgery.
- Demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail with data handling and input.
- Show an ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Have good time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and use initiative to ensure tasks are completed appropriately.
Previous clinical research experience would be an advantage.

This is a fixed-term, part-time 0.4FTE role (15 hours per week), for 12 months.
