**Mō tēnei tūranga - About the role**
We have a vacancy in our Waikato Community Risk Management team for an Advisor Risk Reduction. This role will undertake a range of technical work using Fire Safety legislation, carrying out fire investigations, regulatory compliance and stakeholder engagement.
The Advisor - Risk Reduction will be accountable for supporting and advising on risk reduction functions and activities across the built and natural environments throughout the district.
This role covers a range of work including:
- The delivery of risk reduction, compliance, and enforcement work across both the natural and built environments
- Providing advice and expertise on the management of risks relating to all fire types in both the built and natural environments, including the use of fire as a land management tool
- Supporting the delivery of compliance activities, including fire permits and evacuation scheme approvals
- The ability to work and partner with, with all community leaders, to prevent fires and other emergencies and building community resilience
- Working collaboratively with the wider Community Risk Team in the delivery of tools, programmes, events, and advice to communities
- Note this role requires occasional work during weekends or outside ‘normal’ business hours of which there maybe a rostered on-call component.

To be successful in this role you will need:
- To be able to establish credibility with Iwi and Māori communities, as key stakeholders in Fire and Emergency’s work
- Represent the organisation in a professional manner
- Convey complex and technical information to a wide range of people and organisations
- Have exceptional time management skills
- Hold a current clean driver’s licence (essential)
