Te Tari Taiwhenua has a diverse and significant set of responsibilities that require strong, effective and enduring partnerships with iwi and Māori. Our newly established Māori Strategy and Performance (MSP) branch has been created to strengthen Te Tari Taiwhenua’s capability to build enduring equitable and positive Māori Crown relationships.
The new branch provides greater Māori leadership and resourcing alongside established whole of organisation strategy, governance and performance functions.
**Te whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**
Reporting to the DCE, as Programme Director, you will establish and drive the Māori, Strategy and Performance Change Programme including the delivery of He Waka Eke Noa, our Māori Organisational Strategy, Te Aka Tai Whenua, our Māori Strategic Framework, and initiatives to support cultural capability uplift across our organisation.
You will be building and maintaining collaborative working relationships with branches and business groups ensuring that capability development supports their needs and the mahi they are accountable for. This new role is an opportunity to make a real difference to improving our internal capability to build positive Māori Crown relationships.
**Mōu ake | About you**
- Previous experience working in complex programme and project delivery environments, in senior delivery management roles
- A sound understanding of the history of Aotearoa New Zealand and the ability to bring together te ao Māori and te ao Pakeha perspectives
- Comprehensive understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi from a Māori and Crown perspective
- A profound knowledge of tikanga Māori and the ability to develop and maintain effective networks and relationships with whānau, iwi, hapū and other stakeholders
- Experience in management of multiple specialist areas relating to delivery
- Experience in people leadership and working effectively across a variety of stakeholders
- A proven reputation for delivery in pressured environments, ideally with experience doing this in large government organisations
