The Senior Mechanical Engineer’s role is to lead the mechanical discipline review of the engineering of geothermal steamfield providing geothermal fluid to power plant. The role has a strong emphasis on working with designers to collaboratively deliver the engineering of the steamfield while protecting Contact’s interests both contractually and in achieving reliable, efficient, economic, and safely operating facilities.

**Some of your day to day will include**:

- Provide mechanical discipline reviews of steamfield designs delivered by external parties
- Provide input into the development of mechanical specifications for follow on projects based on the experienced of delivering current projects
- Provide mechanical input into the process of engineering decision making process including with necessary consultation with internal stakeholders to ensure engineering decision making for the steamfield delivers the optimum lifecycle result for Contact
- Contribute to the development of less experienced staff and assist management to plan for the succession needs of the team
- Act as the discipline expert in your area of expertise, advising other engineers and managers
- Liaise with project team members to explain key discipline technical decisions, risks and mitigation strategies

**Qualifications**

A clear communicator, you’re comfortable providing candid technical advice to senior leadership, able to convey complex information simply, and can undertake and lead others through complex problem solving. You understand the commercial drivers behind projects and are known for contributing positively to contracting strategy, including technical scope and risk allocation for major projects, as well as being comfortable with change, able to adapt and shift gears as need be.

**What else you'll bring**:
Degree in engineering or equivalent qualifications ideally with recognized professional registration (CPEng, Int PE) with power generation (or similar) as a practice area.
- At least 10 years experience in steam and water systems and associated mechanical equipment (or similar heavy industry).
- A high level of expertise and experience in engineering in your area of expertise, ideally including mechanical equipment, steam and hot water piping and pressure vessel design, venting systems, fluid transmission, or similar disciplines.
- A sound working knowledge, in your discipline, of the legislative framework Contact's Generation sites need to operate under.
- Project management and contract management experience.
