The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

We have a permanent, full-time opportunity available to join our regional Te Manawa Taki team as **Kaitātaki, Group Manager, Community and Whānau Wellbeing.**

The primary purpose of this role is to lead a team of teams to deliver public health services that focus on community and whānau wellbeing, including health promotion and programmes/services that are aimed at preventing illness (prevention services) and promoting wellbeing. You will lead a new way of working that is aligned with, and will deliver, Pae Ora. Work alongside leadership to deliver the organisational priorities of Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora, meeting performance requirements and to drive continuous improvement in processes and practices within the team.

**Mōu | About you**

You are an experienced senior leader with proven experience of building capability and lifting performance of a team/unit. You will be able to deliver on programmes of work in a complex environment and be involved in developing and implementing effective group strategies. You're comfortable with change and uncertainty and have proven relationships with iwi/hapū and/or Pacific communities and leaders.

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- A Bachelor's degree in an area relevant to health promotion, education, disease prevention, Māori or Pacific Health, community development, and/or public health or comparable/extensive experience working at a senior leadership level
- Significant experience in a senior level position with a wide span of control and leading leaders, including solid experience in coaching, mentoring, and managing teams
- Able to think, plan and act strategically and to connect with and inspire people to build a highly motivated and engaged workforce
- Demonstrated understanding of organisational risk and compliance, legal and regulatory requirements regarding relevant regulations and standards in New Zealand
- 5 years' experience in varied environments with responsibilities for achieving equitable health outcomes and responsive to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Extensive business and people management experience for managing a significant division of the organisation
- Demonstrated mature communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to write and present in a clear, persuasive, and impactful way, to influence others to embrace change, and to develop, unify and maintain strong internal and external relationships essential for achieving sustainable outcomes
