**PERSON SPECIFICATION AND JOB DESCRIPTION - BRANCH MANAGER TIMARU**

**Position**

Undertake the role of branch manager in the Timaru office of DLA Architects Ltd. This will include all facets of the architectural process at a high experience level on projects of all types

**Qualification**
- Registered Architect/LBP or similar qualification
- Senior level experience in an architectural practice of at least 5 years
- At least 10 years total experience in an architectural practice
- Full clean New Zealand driver’s license

**Reporting**

This position reports directly to the directors of DLA Architects Limited

**Performance/Skills**
- Ability to manage an office and work as part of a team

- Display a high level of Revit competency
- Work to agreed company Revit & BIM360 standards and procedures
- Keep up to date with all relevant building codes, standards, and local territorial authority requirements

- Take responsibility for personal and team contributions to the success of projects
- Fully participate with energy and enthusiasm

**Responsibilities**
- Manage all staff in the Timaru office, including performance reviews, recruitment, and resource allocation
- Proactively market the practice with client development and project procurement
- Manage design and documentation of projects within the office
- Preparation and maintenance of DLA quality plans for projects
- Preparation of marketing and fee submissions
- Provide all facets of design from bulk and location planning through to detailed design for all project types
- Site measures of existing buildings to provide full as-built plan, elevation, and section drawings
- Prepare building consent and construction drawings complying with the New Zealand building code and local territorial authority requirements for all building types
- Preparation of project specifications using Masterspec specification system
- Prepare Conditions of Contract documentation using NZIA SCC or NZS 3910
- Correct sketch plan and working drawing documentation due to alterations or changes in design
- Correspond with clients on design matters
- Correspond with consultants to obtain all required and relevant information in relation to projects
- Provide contract administration and construction observation of projects using NZIA SCC or NZS 3910 Conditions of Contract
- Tender to contractors & tender evaluation
- Assemble and manage Sub-Consultant Project Team
- Code compliance certification process
- Prepare monthly invoicing for Timaru projects
- General office duties

**DLA Support**

This role will be supported by the current director based in the Timaru office, who will be reducing their involvement and time in the office gradually over the next few years.

During the transition period the director and the branch manager will decide between them which projects the branch manager will be responsible for (at times they are likely to work together on the same project). This will be formalised at a meeting each Tuesday where all DLA staff resources are co-ordinated.

Support from the current Timaru Director over the next couple of years includes:

- resource allocation
- Preparation of marketing and fee submissions
- Assembling and managing Sub-Consultant Project Teams
- Developing relationships with clients, consultants, building contractors and local territorial authorities
- Preparation and maintenance of DLA quality plans

On an ongoing basis, DLA directors and associate will be supporting the operations at Timaru and you, including:

- Staff programming in weekly inter-office meetings
- Management of design and documentation
- Presentations and submissions for large scale projects

On an as required basis, DLA directors and associate support the operations at Timaru and you, including:

- Preparing Conditions of Contract documentation
- Tender to contractors & tender evaluation
- Contract administration and construction observation

On an ongoing basis, the DLA Business Manager (based in Wellington) will be supporting you, including:

- Timaru staff performance reviews
- recruitment
- invoicing

On an ongoing basis, all Timaru Staff will be collaborating with you, including:

- client consultations
- consultant consultations
- sketch plan design & documentation
- building consent and construction drawings
- Conditions of Contract documentation
- Tender documentation
- Contract administration and construction observation

On an ongoing basis, other staff will be supporting you in specific areas where they hold expertise, including:
