**What you'll do**:
Due to an internal move, we are on the lookout for an experienced leader to join us as Spot Trading Manager. Our Spot Trading team, based across Auckland and Hamilton, works 24/7 to maximise the wholesale portfolio gross margin and manage risk in the short-term electricity and gas markets, whilst ensuring the consistent implementation of a long-term portfolio strategy.

Reporting to the General Manager - Trading, you'll lead our spot trading desk and develop tactics that maximise the value of our generation assets in the wholesale spot market. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping trading culture, driving continuous improvement initiatives, embedding best practices, and ensuring our operations deliver commercial excellence.

This is a hands-on leadership role that blends strategy, execution, and team development. Your influence will extend beyond the trading floor as you partner across multiple business units to deliver meaningful commercial outcomes. With a strong focus on compliance, collaboration, and continuous improvement, you'll mentor a team of highly skilled traders, manage complex trading strategies, and ensure the team operates efficiently and in alignment with both operational and commercial objectives.
- Please note that this is a permanent, full-time role that can be based at our Auckland or Hamilton office._

**What you'll need**:
You're a proven leader with strong commercial judgment, critical thinking skills, and a track record of managing high-performing teams in fast-paced environments. You thrive on mentoring others, driving improvement, and making decisions that have a real impact.
- Tertiary qualification in business, finance, engineering, or equivalent work experience
- Proven experience leading shift teams in trading or operational environments
- Strong energy sector experience with solid knowledge of the NZ electricity market
- Commercially astute with excellent decision-making and strategic thinking
- Skilled in driving positive culture, embedding best practices, and influencing across the business.
