The National Library has an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about IT systems and infrastructure, particularly those that support libraries, to join a small but dedicated team.
As the Senior Infrastructure Engineer you will be responsible for supporting the ongoing operation and maintenance of the IT infrastructure for the Kōtui and APNK networks, by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimising the core infrastructure and systems. This role liaises with relevant third-party vendors, supports Library IT staff, maintains system documentation, contributes to fault diagnosis and resolution and ensures networks are secure. A project is in the planning stages for a migration to Software as a Service for the Kōtui Library Service.
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer role is based at the National Library, Casebrook, Christchurch and reports to the Business Development and Operations Manager. The team members have some flexibility within their week to work from home if that is preferred. A permanent remote working solution would need to be negotiated. This role has two areas of focus which are the Kōtui Library service provided to the Kōtui membership which is currently 41 District and City Councils throughout New Zealand; and the Aotearoa People's Network Kaharoa (APNK) which is provided to 53 District and City Councils throughout New Zealand.
- Advanced skills in managing the infrastructure of LAN and WAN networks;
- Advanced skills in managing server infrastructure;
- IT qualifications and / or relevant work related experience;
- A proactive attitude towards network security and minimising risks;
- Experience with identifying, diagnosing and resolving network issues;
- the ability to remain calm under pressure and manage multiple tasks;
- the ability to work collaboratively with others to enhance team performance.
You will be joining a team of 12 colleagues, in Christchurch, who are enthusiastic to continue the work of Kōtui and APNK with NZ Public Libraries.
The National Library sits within the Te Haumi - Enterprise Partnerships division of the Department' of Internal Affairs.
