**Āu Mahi | What You Will Do**
Applications are invited for the continuing position of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Active Tectonics and Geomorphology in the School of Earth and Environment. The School has a diverse staff covering a range of expertise which includes delivery of an undergraduate Geology major and postgraduate programmes in Geology, Engineering Geology and Disaster Risk and Resilience. Active tectonics and geomorphology are core components of these programmes and will link to a newly proposed Earth Sciences major in the BSc.
Aotearoa New Zealand's location astride an active plate boundary makes it an ideal place to conduct research on active tectonics and its effects on the landscape. The country is also unique in the high proportion of graduates who go on from studying Geology to jobs in engineering geology and the hazard and risk sector. We seek a geoscientist with expertise in active tectonics and geomorphology interested in engaging with these landscapes from both research and teaching perspectives. The appointee will be familiar with contemporary geomorphological methodologies, including the use of appropriate quantitative approaches in both desk and field contexts. They may have additional expertise in a specific geological hazard, remote sensing, numerical modelling, paleoseismology and/or marine geology.
**Mōu | Who You Are**
The appointee will be expected to develop and deliver classroom and field teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, together with supervising postgraduate research students in the MSc and PhD degree programmes. They should have an outstanding research track record or the potential to develop one. The ability to collaborate with staff in the School of Earth and Environment, Civil and Natural Resources Engineering, and New Zealand's industry community will be an advantage as well as developing national and international linkages. Commitment to teaching excellence, to applied research, to developing and leading research programmes, and to seeking external funding are an expected part of the position. Applicants must have a PhD, with postdoctoral research or equivalent professional experience in active tectonics and geomorphology preferred.
