An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Regulatory & Advisory Services as the new Team Leader - ERA in the Employment Services Branch within the Te Whakatairanga Service Delivery Group. The Employment Relations Authority is an independent statutory body that helps to resolve employment relationship problems.

This is a new role, furthering the leadership capacity in the MBIE administration function which supports the ERA and will sit alongside Team Leaders in Christchurch and Auckland. In this role you will be the onsite team leader for the day-to-day delivery of services which support the ERA functions.

Reporting to the Business Support Manager, the Team Leader will provide coaching, mentoring and leadership to an operational, fast-moving team responsible for providing case management, administration and general operational support to the Employment Relations Authority Chief and Members. This role is responsible for building and enhancing the overall capability of the team, while also working collectively with the other Team Leaders and wider MBIE team members to develop, implement and delivery a professional support service.

**Leadership skills**:

- Minimum two years’ recent experience as a people leader.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to create a motivated environment and a positive team.
- Highly developed relationship management and communication skills to inform, persuade and influence.
- Demonstrated agility in supporting multiple teams and responding to/managing changes in priorities.
- Wide ranging knowledge of administration systems and processes and an understanding of good practice governance practices.
- Managing conflicting priorities and ensuring that commitments, complaints or problems are addressed within an efficient and acceptable timeframe.
- Providing Leadership to a group including the coaching and mentoring of staff and building a positive team.

**Technical Expertise**:

- Knowledge and understanding of the Machinery of Government is essential with an understanding of the working environment of tribunals is highly desirable.
- Working co-operatively within a team environment including the sharing of knowledge and assisting with workload or strategic priorities to help deliver a national outcome.
- Sound appreciation of corporate management disciplines and techniques including a wide-ranging knowledge of administration systems and processes and an understanding of good practice governance practices.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining an environment focused on continuous improvement to enhance delivery performance including:

- Developing & implementing operational processes and systems.
- Developing and implementing training, coaching, including creating practice documentation such as guides and manuals.
- A resource efficiency approach and focus on streamlining processes and procedures
- Experience in leading or working within a case management environment.
