**About the role**

In this unique role, your anchor location is at War Memorial Library but you will mostly be rostered to work at the Maungaraki Community Library, which was set up in 2023 as a partnership between Maungaraki School and Hutt City Council. During the daytime the site operates exclusively as the school library and teaching space for Maungaraki School, but in the afternoon and Saturdays it is run by Hutt City Council staff. This is where you come in.

We are seeking a dedicated Pou Tiaki for 21.45 hours per week working the following hours and locations:

- Tuesday, 9.30am-2.45pm War Memorial Library and 2.45-6.00pm Maungaraki Community Library
- Wednesday - Friday 2.45-6.00pm Maungaraki Community Library
- Saturday 10.00am-2.00pm Maungaraki Community Library

As Pou Tiaki, you will be the friendly and welcoming face of our Maungaraki Community Library, offering information and support to our customers. You will serve as the vital link between us, the Maungaraki School community and the wider community, working alongside a community volunteer on a variety of tasks including library services, promoting the site, general inquiries, and other ad hoc duties. You will have an interest in engaging with the school and community to create and deliver programmes for all ages.

The primary goal of this position is to provide customer-centric services that meet the community's needs, optimize this special space for community use out of school hours, and enhance awareness and engagement with council-wide services.

You are a confident team player, looking for an opportunity to engage in a role supporting our local community through the provision of library services in a school-based setting.

For this position you will need to provide high quality, welcoming frontline service to all customers. You'll embrace our diverse local community, have confidence dealing with a wide range of customer groups and be open to learning new things. Your ability to think on your feet combined with your passion for amazing customer service will allow you to excel in this role.

Since this role involves working with children and vulnerable people, you will be required to complete a Police Vetting check and return the satisfactory result as a condition of the employment contract with Hutt City Council, and this will be separately required by the Maungaraki School.
