**About the role**
We're seeking a collaborative, values-driven Host Lead | Pou Tiaki Lead to provide authentic leadership at the Walter Nash Centre in Taita. This is a 4-month fixed-term, full-time position working the following hours:
- **Tuesday - Thursday**:2.30pm - 11pm
- **Friday & Saturday**:8.30am - 5pm
**_Please note: _**_we are currently in consultation with the Walter Nash Centre team, and these hours may be amended depending on the final outcome. We will confirm and discuss any changes during the interview process._
The Host Lead | Pou Tiaki Lead provides day-to-day leadership to the Pou Tiaki team and supports the smooth, safe, and effective running of the Walter Nash Centre. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and supporting Pou Tiaki to deliver exceptional, customer-focused front-line service
- Acting as the point of escalation for customer or team issues
- Supporting and coordinating programmes, events, recreation, library, arts, and culture activities
- Working closely with the Site Lead to ensure facility operations run efficiently
- Building strong relationships with centre users, community groups, and Council partners
- Role modelling our Council values and contributing to a positive, connected team culture
This role is grounded in community-led development principles - working alongside people and communities to activate potential, build connection, and support local initiatives.
**About you**
We are looking for an engaging and experienced individual who brings energy, empathy, and a strong commitment to making a difference at a local community level. You’ll thrive in a busy, people-focused environment and bring:
- Strong frontline service or facility operations leadership experience
- Initiative and a collaborative leadership style to support and develop the team
- Cultural competence and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- A passion for community service, libraries, recreation, arts, or wellbeing
- Excellent communication, digital literacy, and relationship-building skills
- Creativity and resourcefulness to lead programmes, events, and community activities
- Experience in local government, libraries, or community hubs (advantageous but not essential)
