**About the role**

We have a fixed term, full time opportunity for a Host | Pou Tiaki to join our Walter Nash Centre Team in Taita, Lower Hutt.

The fixed term is from mid-May until Saturday 28 June 2025.

The core hours are Tuesday - Saturday 7.30am-4.00pm, although flexibility is required at times to meet the demands of large events or bookings.

With a focus on sport, community events and library services at Walter Nash, this is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside our community to create and deliver programmes and events.

**What you'll do**
- ** Event management support**:Transport and set up sporting equipment e.g netball goals, floorball rinks, futsal goals, and volleyball nets across multiple courts. Preparing for major events like Hutt Valley Sports Awards and Hutt Fest, which require extensive set-up of carpets and stages.
- **Cleaning duties**: Cleaning courts and bleachers, mopping spills, and general tidying and cleaning duties, ensuring the Centre is clean, tidy and presentable.
- **Meeting rooms**:set up and organise meeting rooms by moving tables and chairs and ensure meeting rooms are tidied and clean following use.
- **Customer service**: provide a high standard customer service, that is responsive to the community's needs, optimise our spaces for community use and increase awareness of and engagement with community regarding council wide services.

**About you**

We're looking for a proactive, results-driven and adaptable individual with:

- Responsive and welcoming frontline customer service experience and skills. You'll naturally embrace biculturalism and cultural diversity, be technologically savvy, and have confidence dealing with a wide range of customer groups.
- As the role requires some heavy lifting, setting up of equipment, supervision of indoor sport activities and extended periods standing/on your feet, you'll need to be physically fit.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to use initiative, sound judgment, discretion, and maintain strict confidentiality.
- You'll have the ability think on your feet and use initiative to find creative solutions for our customers. You'll have a real passion for making a difference in our community and provide a great service to every person who enters our facility.
