This role is an integral part of our efforts to ensure the success of our students and foster a supportive environment that enables them to thrive.

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized professional to serve as a Scholarship Liaison Officer, providing critical support to our Tokelau scholarship students in New Zealand.

Job Description

The Scholarship Liaison Officer will be responsible for:

  • Liaising with tertiary institutions and schools to place students in relevant programs aligned with Tokelau's development priorities and students' interests.
  • Providing expert advice on course planning, degree, or program requirements, and offering ongoing support during registration, enrolments, career advice, and counselling.
  • Offering proactive pastoral care to scholarship recipients and undertaking liaison visits to connect with students and their program leaders.
  • Coordinating and facilitating effective communications and working relationships between the students and learning support services within the institutions to guarantee students access the necessary resources.
  • Organizing events such as orientations for new students and attending school careers evenings/expos where feasible for students in senior secondary schools.
  • Ensuring students access essential services like accommodation, bank accounts, transport, health care, and shopping.
  • Assisting with travel arrangements within New Zealand and accompanying new students during their settlement period.
  • Liaising with key agencies to explore opportunities to enhance trade training pathways for Tokelau through apprenticeships.
  • Monitoring students' academic performance and progress, managing any disciplinary issues, and providing regular performance and progress reports.
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with liaison officers in different institutions.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A university degree.
  • A valid New Zealand driver's license.
Special Requirements
  • This role involves extended travel throughout New Zealand, both driving and flying, including several trips per year to institutions of study.
  • Must be physically able to undertake required travel.
  • Availability to work in the evenings during the week as required.
