About the Role

The Inauguration Ceremonies Lead will play a critical role in ensuring the success of the 2025 inauguration ceremonies. This includes planning and leading all 21 local board inaugural ceremonies, as well as supporting the planning and delivery of the Governing Body inauguration ceremony in conjunction with Civic Events.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Scope, plan, and deliver the 2025 Inauguration Ceremonies workstream in accordance with legislative requirements and tikanga protocols.
  • Lead engagement with Local Board Teams, Nga Matarae, and Civic events, as well as external stakeholders and local iwi.
  • Identify and track milestones & deliverables.
  • Monitor, record, and regularly report project status; mitigate risks and issues.

About You

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional who can bring their expertise to this critical role. Our ideal candidate will have a high level of trust, credibility, and integrity, with the ability to work effectively with senior-level staff, elected members, iwi, and the public.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of seven years' relevant work experience, preferably in a local or central government environment working on complex projects or events as an advisor or project manager.
  • Strong understanding and appreciation of the democratic process and local government.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, gained through providing advice to a range of stakeholders.
