About the Position

Auckland Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead the planning and delivery of inaugural ceremonies for local boards. As the Inauguration Ceremonies Lead, you will be responsible for scope, planning, and delivering this complex workstream in accordance with legislative requirements and tikanga protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead engagement with Local Board Teams, Nga Matarae, and Civic events, as well as external stakeholders and local iwi.
  • Identify and track milestones & deliverables.
  • Monitor, record, and regularly report project status; mitigate risks and issues.

About You

We are looking for someone with a high level of trust, credibility, and integrity, with the ability to work effectively with senior-level staff, elected members, iwi, and the public. Our ideal candidate will have experience in large, complex, and potentially political organisations, with a strong understanding and appreciation of the democratic process and local government.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of seven years' relevant work experience, preferably in a local or central government environment working on complex projects or events as an advisor or project manager.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, gained through providing advice to a range of stakeholders.
  • Understanding of te ao Maori and tikanga protocols and ability to collaborate with iwi.
