About This Opportunity

We're seeking a highly skilled Category Lead to join our team and lead the procurement of vehicles, machinery, and facilities. As a Category Lead, you'll play a critical role in helping us achieve our business objectives through effective supplier relationship management.

You'll work closely with the procurement team to foster strategic supplier relationships, identify cost-saving opportunities, and drive continuous improvement. As Category Lead, you'll oversee the delivery of procurement plan objectives, providing strategic advice to the business and guiding the team in their efforts.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing a category strategy that aligns with our business goals and objectives
  • Fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers to drive innovation, added value, and benefit realisation
  • Managing the procurement process for vehicles, machinery, and facilities, ensuring compliance with our policies and procedures

Your Requirements

  • Extensive experience in a similar senior Procurement/Category Management role
  • Exposure working within a Government Agency would be preferred Experience in leading a small team and passionate about passing on your knowledge and expertise
  • Considerable experience in cooperative, partnering relationships with key stakeholders or suppliers driving innovation, added value and benefit realisation
  • Strong analytical skills, able to draw insights from data and identify trends, areas for action and improvement Experience in developing category strategies, implementing and managing approaches to market Commercial experience Understanding of the Maori Crown relationship and its importance to DOC
