As a Customer Support Field Engineer at Panasonic Avionics Corporation, you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and improve product performance.
The Position:
This role involves representing Panasonic Field Engineering interests in resolving technical issues with other departments and airlines. You will perform on-site support, technical guidance, training, and troubleshooting assistance to ensure product requirements, performance, and reliability objectives are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Guide investigations related to IFEC hardware, network, software, and services from issue discovery to resolution for line-fit, retrofit, and in-service environments.Provide troubleshooting assistance and support related to new hardware installations, modifications, wiring, software, issue isolation, and resolution.Conduct testing before aircraft delivery, on the ground, and inflight.Report and communicate information relating to IFEC performance, customer feedback, and internal departmental data.Collaborate with Product Support Engineers, Field Support, and delivery teams to implement new features, hardware, and software improvements.Review and evaluate documentation such as wiring diagrams, maintenance manuals, component manuals, operation manuals, service literature, and test requirements.Maintain a detailed working knowledge of aircraft avionics systems interacting with Panasonic equipment.Perform as an engineering liaison for development or integration of next-generation Panasonic IFE systems.Develop, maintain, and share knowledge of Panasonic products and installations, including system software and associated equipment.Stay current with new products and enhancements, continually obtaining new data, specifications, and interfaces.Other duties as required.Requirements:
- Fulfilling working rights in New Zealand.
- Associates Degree/equivalent educational qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Engineering, or related degree; or 5 years of engineering experience in IT, electronics/avionics systems, software, or broadcast technology.
- Experience identifying engineering problems in software and hardware and reporting to Field Engineering management.
- Network/software and system development/integration experience desired.
- Able to work independently and establish work priorities.
- Able to tailor communication style to different audiences (technical vs non-technical).
- Working knowledge of Linux/Unix commands, file system structure, TCP/IP networks, and troubleshooting methods.
- Able to understand and use wiring schematics, diagrams, and other engineering/aircraft documentation preferred.
- Able to operate standard electronic test equipment and tooling.
- Familiarity with FAA, CAA, and ATA requirements for avionics equipment.
