About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Compliance Monitoring Officer. As a key member of our environmental monitoring program, you will play a critical role in ensuring that environmental regulations are upheld.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and implement monitoring programs for resource consents and regional rules
- Conduct site inspections, sample collection, measurements, recording, reporting, and enforcing non-compliance
- Respond to environmental incidents, conducting inspections and investigations, and taking necessary samples and measurements
- Participate in the Council's 24/7 Environmental Hotline roster, ready to respond to incidents at any time
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification relevant to the purpose of the position (e.g. science-based discipline)
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft systems (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Confident public speaking and representing the Council in working groups or other forums
- Sound knowledge of regional council Resource Management Act monitoring functions
- Previous experience in environmental monitoring or coastal science
- Current full driver's licence
