Our mission is to maximise the potential of capturing and using clean power for all stakeholders, while staying true and committed to our values.As our project pipeline in New Zealand continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Environmental and Sustainability Lead to support the construction of one of the largest Solar Farms in New Zealand.Ethical Power offers the opportunity to be part of a leading global team working on some of New Zealand's most innovative and large-scale renewable projects.
We value fresh perspectives and diverse experiences, which is why we actively seek individuals who bring unique ideas and a hunger for growth.We are looking for someone who can contribute to our success by:Collaborating with the project teams to develop project management plans, ensuring the inclusion of site-specific Environmental Management Plans (EMP), ecological constraints, and Arboricultural considerations.Leading initiatives to reduce energy consumption, waste and carbon footprint, promoting resource conservation across the project.Ensuring adherence to local, regional, and national environmental laws, staying updated on relevant regulations and industry trends.Working with internal teams and external partners to integrate sustainability practices and build relationships to support sustainability goals.Tracking and reporting on environmental and sustainability performance, developing metrics to measure progress and providing training and resources to staff on sustainability best practices.The Environmental and Sustainability Lead is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing sustainability and environmental initiatives on a utility-scale photovoltaic project.This role involves monitoring and reporting on energy use, waste management, resource conservation, and emissions for the project duration.
The lead will work cross-functionally to set and achieve sustainability goals, report on progress, and engage with stakeholders to promote environmental responsibility.Additionally, the role requires staying updated on industry trends and regulatory changes to implement best practices and foster a culture of sustainability on the project.This position is based on site in the Northland region to support the project team.
We encourage applications from local candidates but are also willing to talk to suitable out of region-based candidates who may be interested in working on the project.This is a project-based contract, likely to run for 18-24 months, with the potential for permanent employment following.About YouExperience in environmental management, sustainability, or related fields, with a proven track record leading sustainability initiatives on construction projects.Tertiary qualifications in the area of sustainability, environmental science, natural resource management, or related field.Environmental or sustainability certifications such as ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), or similar are highly valued.Certification in sustainability practices (e.g., Sustainability Excellence Associate, Green Associate) advantageous.Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite programs including MS Project or Smartsheet.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.What we offer:Work on large-scale projects.5 weeks annual leave.Medical insurance.If you are a driven and engaging Environmental and Sustainability Lead who is looking for a challenging and hands-on role with an established organisation, we welcome your application including your CV and cover letter.Applicants must hold New Zealand citizenship, New Zealand permanent residency, or a valid New Zealand work permit.
