About the Company:

Te Tari Pūreke – Firearms Safety Authority is New Zealand's Firearms Regulator. Our Vision is to ensure the possession and use of firearms in Aotearoa is the safest in the world.

To achieve this, Te Tari Pūreke effectively implements the firearms licensing systems; manages the Firearms Registry; educates people and ensures compliance and enforcement through investigations and resolutions.

About the Role:

The Manager – Regulatory Intelligence role involves delivering functions required under the Arms Act within the Firearms portfolio, group leadership, and team management, contributing to the Group's success.

This role is critical to ensure a robust and effective continuous eligibility scanning process, guaranteeing firearms licence holders are consistently assessed as fit and proper.

The Manager will lead a skilled team to deliver timely, accurate, and actionable intelligence that supports both proactive and reactive measures, safeguarding public safety and ensuring compliance regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead and manage the Intelligence team, ensuring effective allocation of resources and prioritisation of intelligence activities.
  2. Support the development and maintenance of strategic and operational intelligence priorities.
  3. Oversee the development of intelligence products in support of the Firearms Authority's regulatory, compliance, and response activities.
  4. Scope, plan, and set priorities for the Intelligence work programmes.
  5. Provide expert guidance and support to intelligence analysts.
Requirements:
  1. Extensive experience in leading intelligence operations, preferably in a regulatory or law enforcement environment.
  2. Strong understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards in New Zealand.
  3. Relevant territory qualifications or equivalent experience.
  4. Top secret security clearance.
  5. 10 years of experience in intelligence operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
