Library Services Coordinator

The Te Ao Maori Senior Librarian will be responsible for delivering exceptional services to the community, particularly in the area of Maori culture and language. This role will involve working closely with colleagues to identify areas for improvement in Bicultural service delivery within the Library network.

We are looking for someone who has great connections and relationships with people and is willing to learn more about library services and contribute to making a difference to the community.
Key Performance Indicators
- Assist in customer service, Kohanga Maori collections, supporting research, library spaces, and programming to be responsive to the needs of the Maori community
- Identify cultural professional development training for colleagues
- Use a discretionary approach to customer enquiries, particularly those relating to Matauranga Maori, Maori literacy, and when supporting Rangahau Maori (Maori research methods)
Necessary Skills and Experience
- A relevant qualification in Library and Information Management, Te Reo and Matauranga Maori is preferred or willingness to study in this area
- Experience working in libraries (preferably Public Libraries)
- Proficient in Te Reo Maori me ona and tikanga
- Strong interpersonal, demonstrated people management, and supervisory skills
- Knowledge of Tikanga and able to practice Manaakitanga, Kaitiakitanga, Maramatanga, and Whanaungatanga within the role
